The short answer
- Official price
- €20 full, €2 reduced for citizens aged 18 to 25, and the official page states all admission tickets are valid for both permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions (checked 17 October 2026).
- Free days
- First Sunday of every month plus listed dates (25 April, 2 June, 4 November in 2026, and 8 March); free-day tickets cannot be booked in advance and are collected at the office.
- Reseller bundle
- WeGoTrip's entry ticket was €27.81 on 17 October 2026 — admission, the temporary exhibition and a downloadable Naples city audio guide — but the merchant's own pages contradict each other on the Magnae Graecia Collection, so this page does not link it.
- Check before you go
- The Alexander mosaic is under restoration and not on display, and the entrance has been temporarily moved to the western door while the building is restructured.
What the MANN is for#
The Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli holds the finds that Pompeii and Herculaneum produced: the Farnese sculpture collection, the mosaics — including the famous Alexander mosaic, currently off-view for restoration — the gems, and the Magna Graecia material that gives southern Italy's Greek cities their face. Visiting it before or after the excavation sites is the difference between seeing rooms and understanding them.
The museum's own homepage records the current state of the place on any given day. On 17 October 2026 it listed the mosaic's restoration with two observation points for visitors, the temporary relocation of the entrance and ticket office to the western door during building works, and its two running events: the MANNight late openings (3 September – 22 October 2026) and "We are masterpieces@MANN" (7–19 October 2026).
The official ticket#
The official timetable-and-fares page states a full price of €20.00 and a €2 reduced fare for citizens aged 18 to 25, and settles a question many guides get wrong: all kinds of admission tickets are valid for both permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions. One ticket, whole museum.
Free admission runs on the first Sunday of each month and on the listed dates of 25 April, 2 June and 4 November 2026, plus 8 March for International Women's Day. The official page notes the constraint that matters: tickets for free entrance days cannot be booked in advance — they are collected at the ticket office on the day.
One timetable question we deliberately leave open: visitor guides say the museum closes on Tuesdays, while the official site's own notes imply midweek closures on some dates. The official timetable page is the source of truth — check it for your date rather than trusting a weekday copied from a guide.
Which ticket fits your visit#
Choose by what you want from the museum
You want the museum at its cheapest and correct price
Buy the official €20 ticket
It covers every permanent and temporary gallery in the building — there is no tier of the museum it leaves out.
You land on or near a first Sunday
Go free: collect the ticket at the office, no advance booking
The official page is explicit that free-day tickets cannot be reserved, so the plan is arrival, not checkout.
You are aged 18 to 25
Use the €2 reduced official fare
The concession is a condition, not a coupon — bring the ID that proves it.
You want commentary on the way round, in your language
Know what the €27.81 bundle actually claims before considering it
It adds a downloadable Naples city audio guide — and its merchant cannot state consistently whether the Magnae Graecia Collection is in it (see below).
The reseller bundle, with its catch stated#
WeGoTrip's "The National Archaeological Museum of Naples: Entry Ticket" was €27.81 on 17 October 2026 and is available. The merchant states that it contains admission to the museum, access to the temporary exhibition, and a downloadable Naples city digital audio guide in four languages.
It also states something the official fare page contradicts: that the Magnae Graecia Collection is excluded. And on 17 October 2026 its own storefront disagreed with itself — the public "What's included" list showed the Magnae Graecia Collection as included, while the ticket conditions for the same product still listed it among the exclusions. A merchant that contradicts the venue and itself on what the ticket covers is not one we can send you to on trust.
So this page carries no booking link for that product. The official €20 ticket covers the whole museum by the museum's own statement; if the audio guide is what you want, ask the merchant to resolve the Magnae Graecia wording first. The arithmetic below still explains the gap: €27.81 against €20, with a downloadable city audio guide as the difference — €7.81 for commentary, on a ticket whose contents the merchant cannot state consistently.
Compare your options#
| Option | Price | What it gets you | What to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official standard ticket | €20 | Permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions, valid for the visit | Collect at the office; check the weekday closure for your date |
| Official reduced (18–25) | €2 | Same full access at the concession fare | ID proving age/residency required |
| Official free day | €0 | Full access on the first Sunday and listed dates | No advance booking — office collection only, arrive early |
| WeGoTrip entry + city audio guide | €27.81 | Admission, temporary exhibition, downloadable Naples audio guide (EN/FR/IT/DE) | Merchant's own pages contradict each other on Magnae Graecia — not linked here |
Official fares from the museum's own timetable-and-fares page; bundle facts from the merchant's live product page. The merchant's stated exclusion conflicts with the official inclusion rule — verify before purchase.
Visit notes worth knowing now#
- Temporary entrance. The museum's homepage states that entrance and ticket office have been moved to the western door while part of the building is restructured — follow the on-site signs rather than the facade everyone photographs.
- Alexander mosaic. Under extraordinary restoration and not on display; the museum provides two observation points where visitors can watch the work. Adjust expectations if the mosaic was your target.
- Late openings. MANNight runs 3 September to 22 October 2026 — if your dates overlap, the official site publishes the programme and any ticket conditions for evening entry.
- Free days are walk-up only. The official page states free-admission tickets cannot be booked in advance; they are picked up at the ticket office on the day itself.
- Two-day validity. Visitor guides describe the standard ticket as valid across two consecutive days — confirm at purchase, because official wording is the authority and it is worth knowing before you plan a split visit.
Common questions#
Should I visit the MANN before or after Pompeii?
Either order works, but the museum makes the site make sense: the mosaics, fresco fragments and household material under one roof are what the rooms at Pompeii once held. Many visitors do the museum on the day before or after the dig — Naples is the transport hub for both anyway.
How much are MANN tickets?
€20 full price and €2 for citizens aged 18–25, per the official timetable-and-fares page checked on 17 October 2026, with the first Sunday of each month free. The reseller bundle at €27.81 adds an audio guide to that same admission.
Does the ticket include the temporary exhibitions?
Officially yes — the museum states all kinds of admission tickets are valid for permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions. The reseller product also lists the temporary exhibition among its inclusions; on the Magnae Graecia Collection its storefront and its ticket conditions currently contradict each other, which is why this page does not link the product.
Is the Alexander mosaic on display?
Not at the moment checked. The museum's homepage states the mosaic is undergoing extraordinary restoration and is not on display, with two observation points onto the conservation work. "We are masterpieces@MANN" (7–19 October 2026) is the running exhibition around it.
Can I book a ticket for a free Sunday?
No. The official page states that tickets on free entrance days cannot be booked in advance and must be collected at the ticket office on the day — so treat free days as a first-arrived, first-served plan.
Which day is the museum closed?
We do not publish a weekday we could not confirm on the official site during this check: visitor guides say Tuesday, while official notes imply midweek closures on certain dates. Open the official timetable for your date — one line there settles it.
Is an audio guide included?
Not in the official €20 ticket. The reseller bundle includes a downloadable Naples city audio guide in English, French, Italian and German — a city guide rather than a room-by-room museum commentary. If you want narration inside the galleries, check whether that is what the product actually provides.
