Venice sets 72 access-fee days for 2027 — but not every day of summer

The city's approved calendar runs from selected dates in late March to mid-August. Charging hours extend to 4.30pm; the detailed payment and exemption rules are still to come.

Venice has approved 72 days for its 2027 visitor access fee, extending the season to Ferragosto in mid-August. The city announced the calendar on 15 October. It is a schedule of selected dates, mainly Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays — not a daily charge throughout the months between its first and last dates.

The first charge dates are 26–29 March, over Easter. The final ones are 13–15 August. Two uninterrupted blocks cover 23 April–2 May and 28 May–6 June. On a charge day, the applicable hours will be 8.30am–4.30pm, half an hour longer than the 2026 window.

The approved dates, month by month

March: 26–29. April: 2–4, 9–11, 16–18 and 23–30. May: 1–2, 7–9, 14–16, 21–23 and 28–31. June: 1–6, 11–13, 18–20 and 25–27. July: 2–4, 9–11, 16–18, 23–25 and 30–31. August: 1, 6–8 and 13–15.

That makes 12 more charge days than the 60 in 2026. For a flexible itinerary, the distinction matters: two visits in the same week may fall on different sides of the calendar. Check the particular date, not simply whether your trip falls in spring or summer.

What remains to be settled

The announcement sets a maximum of €10, not a single fixed tariff for every visitor. The city says further measures will complete the rules on exclusions and exemptions, reservations, payment, checks and how the amount is structured. The opening date for the reservation portal will be announced separately.

Do not carry a previous season's exemption or booking procedure straight into a 2027 trip. Check the city's final instructions for your circumstances before paying or requesting an exemption. The calendar is confirmed; those operational details are not yet final in this announcement. Our Doge's Palace guide can help with the separate question of planning a palace visit.
