Milan Duomothe ticket decides whether you reach the roof

The cathedral itself is the cheap part. The terraces, the lift and the archaeological area sit in different products — some official passes include them, and some reseller tickets explicitly exclude them.

The short answer

Official passes
Duomo Pass Stairs €22 and Duomo Pass Lift €26, with Fast-Track variants at €32 and €28 (official Duomo site, checked 17 October 2026).
Cheapest reseller entry
WeGoTrip's plain entry ticket was €17.26 on 17 October 2026 — cathedral, Duomo Museum and San Gottardo, but it explicitly excludes the terraces and the archaeological area.
If you want the rooftop
Check the terraces are inside the product you are buying: the €31.05 WeGoTrip combo includes the rooftop by lift; the €17.26 and €24.32 tickets do not.
Museum day
The Duomo Museum is closed on Mondays per visitor information — confirm on the official timetable before planning a Monday visit.

What the official passes cost#

The Duomo's own site publishes its pass prices, and they split along one question: how do you reach the terraces. The Duomo Pass Stairs is €22, the Duomo Pass Lift is €26, and the fast-track versions — shorter queue through the dedicated entrance — are €32 on foot and €28 with the lift. The cathedral, the terraces and the museum complex are what these passes are built around, and the official site pairs each pass with its presale so the price you see is the price you pay.

Below the passes sits a museum-focused tier: the official concessions page lists a Culture Pass at €15 and museum-only entry from €2, for visitors who want the collections rather than the roof. And the official site carries a warning worth reading: it names websites selling tickets without affiliation to the Veneranda Fabbrica that cannot guarantee ticket validity or fair pricing — buy from channels the Duomo itself names.

The three reseller tickets, and the trap between them#

WeGoTrip sells three distinct Duomo products, all available on 17 October 2026, and their differences are entirely about what you are trying to see. The plain "Duomo di Milano: Entry Ticket" at €17.26 states that it includes entry to the Duomo, the Duomo Museum and San Gottardo Church — and explicitly excludes the cathedral terraces, the archaeological area and an audio guide.

The middle ticket, "Entry Ticket + Archaeological Area" at €24.32, adds the excavated archaeological area beneath the cathedral to the same package while still excluding the rooftop. The top ticket, the "Duomo Combo Lift Ticket with Terrace & Museum Access" at €31.05, is the only one of the three that states lift access: entry to the Duomo, the museum, the archaeological area and the rooftop by elevator, plus San Gottardo.

Which ticket fits your visit#

Choose by what you want to stand in front of

  1. The terraces are the whole point of the trip

Official Duomo Pass Lift (€26) or the reseller lift combo (€31.05)

Both state lift access to the rooftop explicitly; the cheaper entry tickets state the opposite, and the terraces cannot be added to a ticket that excludes them.

  2. You are happy climbing and want the lowest correct price

Official Duomo Pass Stairs at €22

Same cathedral, museum and terraces as the lift pass — the difference is how you get up and how much you pay for the privilege.

  3. You only want the interior, the museum and San Gottardo

    The €17.26 reseller entry ticket

It is the cheapest product in this batch that covers the cathedral complex minus the roof, and it says so in writing — just do not expect a view.

  4. Queues are the problem rather than price

    Official Fast-Track (€32) or Fast-Track Lift (€28)

These are the Duomo's own priority products; a reseller "priority" claim is worth less than the operator's dedicated entrance when the piazza is full.

  5. You want the excavated level under the cathedral too

Take the €24.32 archaeological-area ticket or the €31.05 combo

The archaeological area is a separately-ticketed space — plain entry does not cover it, whichever seller you use.

Planning notes that change the day#

  • Up by lift, down on foot. The lift products are one-way: the lift takes you to the terraces and the descent is by stairs. Visitor information also notes that wheelchair access to the roof reaches only the lower terrace by the south lift — check the official accessibility page for the day's arrangements.
  • Museum closure. Visitor information reports the Duomo Museum closes on Mondays, so a Monday visit with a pass can be missing part of what you paid for. Confirm on the official timetable before you buy.
  • Dress and behaviour. This is a working cathedral: covered shoulders and knees are expected for entry, food and drink are not allowed inside, and there are no lockers for larger bags.
  • Buy from named channels. The Duomo's own site warns that unaffiliated sellers cannot guarantee ticket validity or price fairness. Reseller tickets above are shown as comparisons, with their exclusions stated — not as the official route.
  • San Gottardo and the archaeological area are separate spaces. Both appear as line items inside these products rather than as automatic extras — check which tickets contain them before assuming.

Common questions#

Does a Duomo di Milano ticket include the terraces?

Only some of them. The official Duomo Pass Stairs (€22) and Duomo Pass Lift (€26) include the terraces, and on WeGoTrip only the €31.05 lift combo does — the €17.26 and €24.32 tickets state that the terraces or rooftop are excluded. Read the inclusion list, not the product name.

Is the lift to the rooftop a round trip?

No — the lift products take you up, and you come down through the stairs. That is normal for the terraces, so give your legs and your schedule permission for it. Wheelchair access reaches only the lower terrace, by the south lift.

What is the difference between the Duomo Pass and the Fast-Track ticket?

The pass is admission as such — cathedral, terraces (by stairs or lift) and museum — while the Fast-Track versions (€32, or €28 with the lift) add the operator's own priority entrance. When the piazza queue is long, that entrance is the product you are paying for.

Can I visit the Duomo for free?

Worship access to the cathedral is separate from tourist tickets and is free at service times, with a dress code and no guarantee of free movement during ceremonies. Everything on this page — museum, terraces, archaeological area — is the paid visitor product. Confirm worship times on the official site.

Is the archaeological area part of the standard ticket?

Not in the products checked: it appears as an explicit inclusion in the €24.32 and €31.05 reseller tickets and in the official complex's own ticket descriptions, while the €17.26 ticket lists it as excluded. Choose the product that names it.

Which ticket should I buy if it rains?

Skip the terraces: they are open-air marble walkways and a wet roof is a miserable one. Take an entry ticket without terraces — the €17.26 option — and spend the difference in the Duomo Museum, which your ticket already covers.

Does the ticket include an audio guide?

Not in the plain reseller ticket — it lists the audio guide as excluded — and the official passes sell commentary separately. Budget for it as an add-on, or accept the museum's own labels as your interpretation.
